What is an essence?
An essence is an essential step in the Korean skincare routine, acting as a bridge between toner and serum. Essence has a light, watery consistency like a toner, but contains higher concentrations of active ingredients that penetrate deep into the skin and strengthen the skin barrier.
Why use an essence?
An essence provides intensive moisture and nourishment to the skin, improving the skin's texture and preparing it for subsequent care products. It contains high doses of soothing and moisturizing ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and glycerin, which help retain skin moisture. The essence is formulated with a low molecular weight for maximum absorption, making it quickly absorbed and ideal as a preparation for serum.
How to apply essence?
After applying toner or mist (step 4), apply essence by pouring an appropriate amount into the palms of your hands and gently patting it into the skin. Alternatively, the essence can be applied with a cotton pad. The next step (step 6) is to apply serum.
